The Club’s Annual General Meeting took place earlier this evening in Ballymacward Hall. Chairman Tom O’Grady opened the meeting by requesting a minute’s silence for deceased members of the Club during 2016, including Club Vice-Presidents Brendan Hynes and Fr. Vincent Lawless and also recently deceased Hurling Referee Michael Dolan RIP. Our Sympathies to Michael Dolan’s family, friends and to Kilconieron and Sarsfields G.A.A. Clubs.
Secretary Martin Bellew recounted a memorable 50th year for the Club and thanked all Volunteers for their hard work in making it such a great success. He also noted the success of the Club’s Junior footballers completing the treble earlier in the week. He referenced the full run-down of all the year’s activities, available in the AGM booklet.
Next the Club Treasurer Shane Ruane gave a his report, thanking in particular all Club Sponsors for their generous support, the ‘250 Club’ and also the outlets for Club Lotto ticket sales. County Board Chairman Noel Treacy moved quickly to prevent any confusion, by noting that the Rubberbandits had not performed at our 50th Celebrations, in reference to a ‘Rubber Training Bands’ entry on an Expense sheet. Club Patron Tim Byrnes as ever was in attendance and was an vocal contributor throughout.
in Chairman Tom O’Grady’s address he stepped down after four years in the position. Thanks to Tom for his service in the role and he will no doubt continue, as always, being an integral part of the Club on the Executive Committee.
Paul Ryan was elected as a new Club Vice-President. Adrian Queeney became the new Club Chairman and will be joined at the top table by Secretary Martin Bellew and Treasurer Shane Ruane, both continuing in their roles. 2016 Senior hurling manager Martin Tierney spoke, stating that he will not continue as Manager for 2016. Most Manager positions are TBC at later dates. A full list of Officers is available over on this page.
Following motions and election of officers, Co. Board Chairman and Club Vice-President Noel Treacy spoke to the AGM. He was also complementary of the success that was the Club’s 50th year and noting the recent successes of the Club’s Junior footballers, suggested that the benefits of football can also improve the Club’s players as hurlers. Outgoing Chairman Tom O’Grady and Secretary Martin Bellew concluded the meeting. Well done to new Chairman Adrian Queeney and welcome to the new members of the Executive Committee.
