Pearses 3-07 Ballygar 1-04: A sizeable Pearses crowd made their way to Ballymacward this morning in anticipation of another great U12 game and they weren’t disappointed. Pearses U12’s and mentors will be satisfied with their days work which ultimately saw them notch their fifth win on the trot against a strong Ballygar outfit. Pearses started in great style with a brace of early scores from Paddy Kenny who tapped over from play after a series of 65’s by Jonah Donnnellan.
Kenny then scored a great goal from distance which lobbed the keeper as he called for a quickly taken side line from Donnellan. Anthony Feeney extended Pearses lead with a finely executed point after he caught a ball batted out by the Ballygar goalie. Ballygar responded with 2 frees while Paddy Kenny fired over a free before the interval after a foul on Harry Mitchell to leave Pearses in front 1-03 to Ballygar’s 0-2.
Within 2 mins of the restart David Walsh extended the lead with a great point after some good Pearses pressure and an excellent counter attacking move involving Ronan Hynes, Harry Mitchell andamp;amp; Darragh Roche. Immediately from the puck out Ballygar clawed their way back into the game with a smashing goal as their midfielder burst through the centre and finished well for an unstoppable goal leaving Padraig Kelly with absolutely no chance and just 2 points between the sides. But Pearses rallied and soon afterwards were rewarded when Darragh Roche’s ground stroke found the net to put some daylight between the sides again.
At this stage it was end to end stuff and Padraig Kelly was called upon to make a great save with a high lobbing dangerous ball. Both sides then tapped over a free apiece; Paddy Kenny for Pearses and Ballygar a massive long range effort in front of the stand. Ballygar then added another point from play taken on the run while straight up the other end Darragh Roche drew a great save from the Ballygar goalie as the resultant play was scooped wide.
Pearses controlled the tempo of the game thereafter as Paddy Kenny tapped over another free to keep the pressure off while Ronan Hynes brilliantly dispatched his effort from play to put 6 points between them. Harry Mitchell nailed it with a splendid ground stroke in front of goal in injury time after Dylan Roche andamp;amp; Ronan Hynes did the donkey work. Ballygar pointed through a free right at the end as Pearses finished a great days work. Next up is a local derby against Skehana on Saturday next.
