Pearses 0-5; St. Thomas 1-4: We didn’t get the sunshine that was promised for today as Pearses hurlers took to the field for Round 2 of the U14 Feile na Gael. It was a 10.30 start against St. Thomas. Both teams were well up for this game as Pearses edged it in the 1st half with 4 points coming from the stick of Cian Murphy as St. Thomas’s landed 0-2. It was fast and furious with the sliotar moving up and down Pairc na Gael. Then just before half time St. Thomas goaled and so Pearses had to play ‘catch-up’. The sides went in at the break St. Thomas 1-2; Pearses 0-4. After the restart Ronan Hynes had a great goal chance as he whipped first time on the ball only to see his effort go marginally to the left of the post. Cian Murphy levelled matters soon after with a great effort from play out near the sideline on the stand side of the field. This turned out to be Pearses last score. Thomas’s took the advantage again when they converted a free right in front of goals and tapped over another just before the end to finish out 2 point winners.
