The U16 hurlers booked their place in the Knockout stages with a convincing win over Cappataggle 3-15 to 0-4. Daniel Masterson was the star, with a hat trick of goals (3-1) and he could have had two more, having hit the woodwork twice. Sean Murray in goals and Keith Connell at full-back, along with Ronan O’Neill and Paul Lally in the half-back line were superb in keeping the Cappy forward line at bay.
Recently Brian Sweeney and Paul Lally were selected on the Galway U16 panel for the Leinster tournament played over the weekend and Sweeney was in at his usual sharpshooting best, scoring 0-9. Lally, Conor O’Neill and Lee Murphy dominated the middle third and created the platform for a great win for Paul O’Brien’s team. With all 7 Group games now completed, Pearses finish in second place behind Oranmore-Maree. Details of Knockout stage fixture TBC.
