Pearses continued on their good run in U16B Hurling Championship with a workman like win over a strong Tommie Larkins team. Pearses trailed at half time, 0-7 to 0-4 after playing into strong breeze in the first half. However, Larkin’s were reduced to 14 men, before the break and Pearses used that and the wind advantage, to grind out a good win in the second half.
Brian Sweeney again led the way for Pearses and indeed he was the one who levelled the game midway through the second-half, with a pointed free. Lee Murphy and Keith Connell also chipped in with scores before Sweeney struck for the game’s only goal, with 5 minutes remaining, to wrap up the result. Others who did well for Pearses were Matthew Walsh, reliable in goals, Ronan O’Neill, Ronan Carr, Seandamp;aacute;n Murray and Ronan Flannery did well in a tight defence.
This was the third win from three games in the Championship, with four games still remaining to play. The next Championship game is fixed for next Thursday evening, against Portumna in Ballymacward, subject to change.
