Gort 1-16 Pearses 1-13: Pearses and Gort renewed their recent rivalry this morning in Gort in the Fourth Round of the Senior Hurling League. The last meeting of the two clubs was of course in last year’s Senior Championship Quarter-Final, which seen Gort prevail despite a late Pearses rally. Today’s Game seen a return to Club action for Galway panelists Cyril Donnellan and Emmet Ward.andamp;nbsp;
Pearses had a good start in the breezy conditions. Some accurate freetaking and a goal from the stick of Tomas Flannery, seen Pearses led by 4 at the break, 1-5 to 0-4. Gort however had a much improved second-half with Captain Andy Coen and freetaker Gerry Quinn on top form. A goal from substitute Kieth Killilea helped Gort turn around the half-time deficit to emerge 3 point winners.
Kerrill Hardiman went off with an injury, but the injury should not keep him out any upcoming hurling. Best for Pearses on the day were Darragh Skehill, Emmet Ward, and Tomas Flannery. John Raftery used all 5 subs, so everyone is seeing plenty of action in the lead up to the Senior Championship which starts (for Pearses) on Sunday, 28th April against Moycullen.
