Cyril Donnellan made his first start of the season for Galway/Connacht, in the Inter-Provincial Semi-Final against Leinster and was also captain as they impressively advanced to the final. They will take on Munster. Emmet Ward missed out through injury, Fearghal Flannery was listed among the subs.
Over the weekend, results didn’t go the way of the club’s U21 footballers (v Dunmore) in the North U21B Championship, the U13 footballers (v Milltown) or the U14 hurlers who lost out to Skehana in the Suck Valley League. It’s early days yet in all three competitions, so there is plenty of time to recover lost ground.
Management roles that were awaiting confirmation following the AGM were recently confirmed. Pat Healy takes charge of the U14 hurlers and Mike Carr will manage the U12 hurlers this season. The U21 hurlers are likely to play the previously postponed Championship opener against Kilconieron next weekend. A possible refixture will be available on Tuesday from the County Board. Also the draw for the opening rounds of the Senior Hurling Championship will be made on Tuesday night. It will be live on Galway Bay FM after the 9pm news.
