Pearses 5-13; Clifden/An Spideil 1-4: Clifden/An Spideil were economical with their day trip today as they made the long trek out to North East Galway to play Skehana before they travelled 5 miles up the road to take on Pearses in Gurteen for 1.30pm throw in. This game was a bridge too far for the Connemara side as Pearses sailed to a facile 5-13 to 1-04 Victory over the Connemara side to register their 5th win of the U12 campaign.
It was evident from the early stages that Pearses had little to fear as Ronan Hynes opened the scoring within a minute with a point from play. The Connemara side equalised immediately. Pearses responded however with 2-1 from play before Clifden registered their next score; Harry Mitchell and Dara Scarry the goal scorers with David Walsh chipping in with the point.
Clifden hit back with 2 points, one from a free before Pearses went on the rampage before half time clocking 1-03 without reply; Ronan Hynes accounting for 1-02 and Darragh Roche from play. Half time: Pearses 3-05; Clifden/An Spideil 0-3. Pearses further enhanced their lead in the 2nd half with a further 1-05; Ronan Hynes the goal scorer bringing his personal tally to 2-03 for the day with Paddy Kenny, Dylan Roche, Anthony Feeney andamp;amp; Jonah Donnellan (0-2) tapping over.
Although a lapse of concentration at the back allowed Clifden in for a bullet of a goal, Pearses finished strong with another 1-03 through Anthony Feeney (0-2), Dylan Roche and Jonah Donnellan compounded the misery with a late goal for an overwhelming win.
