Pearses 6-19 Oranmore-Maree 4-11: The Club’s Junior ‘B’ hurlers got their Championship off to a winning start on Sunday in Carnmore. The first half was close, with Pearses one up at the break, 2-7 to 2-6. Robbie Donnellan and Aidan Kilkenny the Pearses goalscorers, while a super save by Paul O’Brien at the other end kept out a third Oranmore-Maree goal. The second half was high-scoring, with Donnellan and Kilkenny again and Kealan Beckett (2) netting four more Pearses goals. Niall Skehill finished with a big personal tally of 0-12, from placed balls and open play. Moycullen are Pearses’ opponents for Round 2.
