Our Junior C hurlers took on Meelick-Eyrecourt this evening in Ballymacward in a warm-up Challenge game before next week’s return to Championship action. Pearses led 0-6 to 0-2 after 15 minutes, thanks mainly to the long range point-taking of Paul Bellew, with 0-4. Then Meelick-Eyrecourt had their own purple patch hitting 0-4 to level the game. The sides then exchanged points before Keith Murphy hit Pearses’ first goal, which was the difference between the sides at the break. The second-half was pretty much all one way traffic, as Pearses’ legs tired. Meelick-Eyrecourt ran out winners on a scoreline of 2-18 to 2-11. The Pearses goal finished to the net by Martin Campbell. Championship Round 3 is next weekend, against Kilbeacanty in Kilbeacanty, details TBC. Pearses Scorers: Keith Murphy 1-4, Paul Bellew 0-4, Pandamp;aacute;iric Hillary 0-3, Martin Campbell 1-0.
