Meelick-Eyrecourt 0-7 Pearses 0-4: Though having more possession in the second half Pearses couldnandamp;rsquo;t get ahead at any point, in this Junior C North Board Football Final played at Caltra on Saturday evening. Meelick-Eyrecourt made the most of their opportunities to take home the cup.
Meelick-Eyrecourt led by two points, one a free, after eight minutes. A goal bound effort by Pearsesandamp;rsquo; Richie Lally seen the ball break to Paul Lally, who fisted over for Pearsesandamp;rsquo; first score after ten. Eyrecourt reopened their two point lead before a Richie Lally free cut it to one again, 0-3 to 0-2. There was little between the teams in the second quarter, Eyrecourt edging it, adding two points, to Pearsesandamp;rsquo; one (Richie Lally). Half-time 0-5 to 0-3.
The second-half was low key, with just three points shared between the teams. Pearses had most of the possession but a a packed Eyrecourt defence meant the Pearses players never got the chance to settle on the ball and time and again the final shot was wide of the mark. It took 22 minutes of play before the second-halfandamp;rsquo;s first score arrived, a Meelick-Eyrecourt point from play. Richie Lally pointed for Pearses five minutes later, 0-6 to 0-4. However, when a sweetly struck 45andamp;rsquo; dropped over Edmund Flanneryandamp;rsquo;s crossbar in injury time, Eyrecourt secured their win.
