Padraig Pearses Junior footballers got their first league win in bad conditions against Williamstown in the newly vested St. Kerrill’s Parkandamp;nbsp;on Fridayandamp;nbsp;evening. This was the first game played in the Grounds since the recent improvements and the management committee of the club are confident that it will be the first of many victories to come.andamp;nbsp;andamp;nbsp;Throw in atandamp;nbsp;8pm, after a large amount of rain during the day, did not make for ideal conditions. Williamstown started well, going three points ahead before Enda Cunniffe pointed from play. Pearses had a huge amount of possession in the opening half but failed to make the most of their chances with poor shooting leaving the wide count in double figures at the break. Half-time: Williamstown 0-3 Padraig Pearses 0-1.andamp;nbsp;andamp;nbsp;Aided by the slight breeze in the second half Pearses began toandamp;nbsp;take control of the game with Aidan Murray and Robert Lally particularly dominating in theandamp;nbsp;half-back line. Damien Wynne opened the scoring and Pearses then become stronger under the Williamstown kickouts and so began to push on, withandamp;nbsp;Enda Cunniffeandamp;nbsp;causing real problems for the Williamstownandamp;nbsp;defence. Leo Morrissey added two points to the scoreboard from midfield, with the astuteandamp;nbsp;Edmund Flannery between the posts pinpointing his kickouts, as well as fisting a Williamstown effort over the bar. Indeed that was their only score of the half, not long before Referee Pat Hansberry blew the final whistle.andamp;nbsp; The lads have yet to play St Gabriels and Sarsfields in the last two league games before the Championship opener against Claregalway on the weekend ofandamp;nbsp;July 27th. The management of James Clancy and Adrian Queeney were delighted with the winandamp;nbsp;and also welcomed the additions of Rory Treacy and Enda Cunniffe to theandamp;nbsp;expanding panel. Well done to all!andamp;nbsp;Pearses: Edmund Flannery; Robert Finn, Rory Treacy, Adrian Queeney; Robert Lally, Aidan Murray, Thomas Broderick; Leo Morrissey 0-2, Damien Wynne 0-1; Niall Skehill, Kevin Lally, Ronan Skehill 0-2; Tomas Ryan, Cathal Hogan, Patrick Mahon.
