Pearses 1-24 Portumna 3-13. The Club’s Minors recorded a second group win in Ballymacward yesterday evening. Pearses are now in second place in the table with one game to play (against Carnmore). The top two teams from the group qualify for the group stages.
Pearses led most of the opening quarter through an Oisin Flannery goal and points from Conor Fahey and Matt Walsh. A Portumna goal on the 16th minute gave them the lead for the first time. Pearses drew level, but another Portumna goal two minutes later put them three up, 2-5 to 1-5. The home team scored four of the remaining five points of the half to lead by one at the break.
Pearses outscored Portumna 0-10 to 0-1 in the third quarter, to lead 1-20 to 2-7. The pick of the scores a long range point from Ronan O’Neill. Portumna had the better of the final quarter as they hit 1-6 to Pearses 0-4, but Pearses had done enough in their purple patch to secure the result.
