Our Minor hurlers confirmed their place in the B Championship Quarter-Finals with a 32 point win (5-22 to 1-2) over Mullagh last Monday evening. Mullagh were reduced to 14 men players early in the game, after a wild pull was punished by the Referee. But even with a full quota of players Mullagh would not have matched a superb Pearses performance. Goal scorers for Pearses were Gary Hennelly (2), Ronan Bellew, Brian Sweeney and Lee Murphy. The Quarter-Final draw will be made at a later date and when it will be played depends on the progress of the Galway Minors in the All-Ireland Championship, of which Ronan Bellew is a member.
Pearses Minor v Mullagh: Sandamp;eacute;an Murray; Thomas Broderick, Keith Connell, Paul Lally; Alan Naughton, Ronan Bellew, John Lally; Ronan O’Neill, John Jenkins; Finbar Healy, Gary Hennelly, Brian Sweeney; Thomas Carr, Lee Murphy, Daniel Masterson. Sub used: Dermot Byrnes.
The Junior C footballers will play the refixed North Board Round 1 Championship game this Friday evening. They take on Claregalway in Menlough at 7.30pm. Our U16 hurler’s Semi-Final date has also been set and they will play the winners of Portumna v St Thomas’ in the U16B Championship Semi-Final on Thursday, August 15th at 7.45pm in Athenry (subject to change).
