In extra time, Ballindereen played with the wind in the first half. They scored a point, but the Pearses broke through for a goal, leaving the half-time of extra time score at 2-5 to 1-6. In the second half, as the rain fell, Pearses held out against a gallant Ballinderreen. Not long before the final whistle Pearses got their third goal, to leave the result in no doubt.
This was the third time the sides had met in the Championship, having also played each other previously in the group stages. Pearses triumphed with a late goal in that game. Well done to the team on this great win and also to the management of Anthony Kenny, Martin Scarry and John Ruane.
