Pearses renew rivalries with Tommy Larkins this Saturday evening (in Ballinasloe, 5.30pm) in the Salthill Hotel Senior Hurling Championship. The sides most recent Championship meeting was last year in Killimor, where Larkin’s came out on top on a scoreline of 0-13 to 0-11. As usual it was a tight contest, with Larkins more clinical with their chances. This year’s game has been billed from the outset as the decider of the second place spot in this group, so it carries huge importance. However, with the Moycullen game still to come for Pearses, nothing is certain. Larkins accounted easily for Moycullen in their opening group game, with Jason Flynn to the fore for the Woodford/Ballinakill side. Of course Pearses came close to toppling County Champions Gort in their opening Group tie and with the form of Cyril Donnellan (Man of the Match in Galway’s win over Offaly last Sunday), Emmet Ward, Tomandamp;aacute;s Flannery, Kerrill Hardiman and Tomandamp;aacute;s Kenny, will not be lacking confidence. A draw is probably not out of the question! Referee is Christy Brown and the game will be followed by the clash of Cappataggle and Meelick-Eyrecourt in the Intermediate Championship.
