Paul was a founding member of our club in 1966, holding the position of Assistant Secretary and throughout his life held multiple positions within the club. Paul played in midfield in the County Junior Final in 1967 beating Oranmore/Maree & winning the rights of the Club name, Pádraig Pearses. He continued playing for many years in multiple positions including goalkeeper.
Both on and off the pitch, Paul was an extremely dedicated member of our club, serving many positions over the years – Club hurler, Officer and a member of sub-committees. Principally, he served as our Club Secretary from 1967 until 1969 and in 1995 was Club Chairman when Pearses won the Intermediate County Final.
Paul was also actively involved in the formation of Gurteen Sportsfield, today known as St Kerrill’s GAA Park Over the years, Paul was heavily involved in Juvenile Hurling, both in the Club & Schools around the Parish.
Paul was a very proud GAA & Pádraig Pearses Man, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. To his Daughters Fiona & Laura, son Tomás and all the extended Ryan families, we offer our most sincere condolences.
