Our Senior hurlers had their first competitive game of the season this morning in Castlegar, when they took the home team Round 1 of the League. In windy conditions Pearses led 1-6 to 0-5 at half-time, the goal coming from Emmett Ward and Enda Cunniffe accurate from placed balls. Brian Sweeney marked his competitive debut at this level with a goal, when introduced in the second half. Midfield partners Jimmy Gelston and Adrian Bellew had points from play. Castlegar however made better use of the elements in this period and led by Enda Concannon and Ger Farragher, they ran out winners by three points.
