Pearses 6-10; St Michaels 0-1: Report by Martina Donnellan. There was no disputing the superiority of an impressive Pearses U12 football outfit who set their stamp on the game this evening in Ballymacward from the word go. Pearses began with a starburst of scores laying down the marker early on as Harry Mitchell alone had 3-2 clocked up within 8 minutes with plenty of block downs, interceptions and over the shoulder passes also of notable quality from the Pearses lads.
The pick of the scores was Mitchell’s second point which originated from Jonah Donnellan in defence and involved David Walsh, Conor Hillary and Anthony Feeney in between prior to the final execution by Harry. Cillian Fahy added another goal and David Walsh kicked over a point to put Pearses in the driving seat 4-3 ahead by the 10minute mark. Anthony Feeney added another before the break while the visitors scored their solitary score on the stroke of half time to leave Pearses well in command 4-4 to 0-1 by the half way mark.
Pearses restarted the second half in the same vein as Anthony Feeney continued the rout with another goal as he ran almost from midfield before finishing to the net immediately after the restart. Jonah Donnellan, David Walsh, Anthony Feeney and Cillian Fahy (2) added further points from play for Gary and Johnny Lally’s young charges. David Walsh took his goal opportunity presented to him in a move originated from the back involving Mitchell, Donnellan, Fahy and finished by Walsh.
Not only was wing back Ross Lally’s joy unconfined but his mother’s as well as ‘Rossy’ tapped over a lovely score from play for Pearses last score to finish emphatic winners on a 6-10 to 0-1 drubbing. It was an evening when everyone got game time and in truth they enjoyed every second of it as they powered through to the next and final group game which is scheduled for Tuesday evening next against Headford in Balllymacward.
